Welcome to the Fullbore Target Rifle Skills Programme for novice shooters!
This programme is comprised of 6 training units designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to shoot independently, enter competitions and take part in team matches. You may opt to follow this as a full programme or you can book onto the individual units that you need.
Unit 1 will introduce you to Target Rifle and cover foundation marksmanship principles, Units 2 - 4 will cover the core information and skills you need to shoot independently while Units 5 and 6 will help you to prepare for competition and team match shooting.
The Spring-Summer 2020 dates are 1st March (Unit 1), 22nd March (Unit 2), 5th April (Unit 3), 26th April (Unit 4), 8th May (Unit 5) and 27th June (Unit 6). There is a second Unit 1 day scheduled on the 25th April for people interested in learning how to shoot TR this Autumn.
UNIT 1, AIM: to introduce you to Fullbore Target Rifle, whilst covering the following topics:
- Target Rifle as a sport discipline
- The basic equipment you will need to participate
- The best practice Fullbore prone position
- Essential Fullbore marksmanship principles
- How to shoot groups with a Fullbore target rifle at short range
This is a full day course (08.00-16.30) costing £105 to include all classroom and on range sessions, rifle hire, ammunition, tea, coffee, lunch and expert coaching. Under 25s receive a 40% discount on entry fee.
RANGE TIME:
- 2 Hour morning session at 300x
- 3 Hour afternoon session at 600x
REQUIREMENT: The course is open any NRA Members who have a Shooter Certification Card (SCC), including those who do not currently hold an FAC or possess a Target Rifle. Non-NRA members can attend providing they are a full member of a Home Office approved club affiliated to the NRA and possess a Shooter Certification Card (SCC). An additional non-membership fee will also be applicable. Please contact us if you are interested in attending this programme but do not possess a current SCC.
DRESS AND EQUIPMENT: All firearms, ammunition and shooting equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own ear protection, shooting glove, hat, notebook, pen and any glasses if you need them. Attendees should wear their usual shooting clothing, with under layers according to the weather. Please bring waterproof trousers, jackets and sturdy footwear suitable for soggy ranges - avoid highly padded or very baggy jackets if you can.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Tea and coffee will be available during the classroom session of the course at no extra charge. Lunch will be provided.

Entries cancelled before the deadline (midday Wednesday 26th February) will incur a £5 admin fee
Entries cancelled after the deadline (midday Wednesday 26th February) will incur a £20 admin fee
