AIM
The Target Shotgun (TS) Skills Development Course will provide the fundamental skills for taking part in TS events and competitions, and will include individual coaching of positional shooting techniques. The course is open to full NRA members and any other person over 14 years who is not a prohibited person under section 21 of the Firearms Act and pays the additional Non-NRA Member Fee of £7.25.
This one day course will involve both classroom and practical range work with expert coaching.
COURSE FEE
The course fee is £77.00, which includes range fees, targets, individual coaching, tea and coffee on arrival and lunch. Ammunition and shotguns are not included and attendees are expected to bring their own. If not yet in possession of a suitable shotgun attendees can have use of an NRA shotgun for £18.50 for the day, and purchase Section 2 ammunition for £29.00, both will be issued on the range by the Instructor.
SHOOTER CERTIFICATION CARD (SCC) ASSESSMENT - NRA MEMBERS ONLY
Only available when pre-booked - there is no additional fee for this however you will need to revise the NRA Target Shotgun Manual prior to attending the course as there is a written test to complete and pass.
ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE - NON-NRA MEMBERS By undertaking and passing the same assessment above, Non-NRA Members can receive a certificate of attendance. Your Club Chairman may then decide to authorise “Target Shotgun” to be added to your SCC.
CANCELLATION FEE
Entries cancelled before the deadline (midday Wednesday 11th March) will incur a £5 admin fee
Entries cancelled after the deadline (midday Wednesday 11th March) will incur a £20 admin fee
DRESS AND EQUIPMENT
Attendees should bring warm weatherproof clothing and appropriate footwear in case of inclement weather. You will need:
- Safety glasses
- Ear defenders
- Firearm - a magazine fed shotgun (tube or box) either S1 or S2*
- Approximately 100 rounds of Birdshot (size UK 4/5/6/7/8) and 30 slug - Fibre Wad Only (if permitted to possess on FAC)
- Cartridge belt (NRA has a limited number available for use)
- Normal shooting equipment
- Notebook and Pencil
* note that under the Firearms Act you are NOT permitted to borrow or use a high capacity firearm or solid slug ammunition without possessing a FIREARMS licence that permits you to possess such items.
Please be advised that you will be shooting prone and the ground may be muddy. Assistance in resetting targets and clearing spent cases is mandatory.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Tea and coffee will be available during the classroom sessions of the course at no extra charge. Lunch will be provided.
