Range Safety Officer (RSO) and Range Conducting Officer (RCO) Renewal Process.

On 01st January 2023 the NRA conducted a thorough review of the RSO and RCO renewal process.

The updated renewal process is outlined below:

NRA RSO Qualification – For use on civilian ranges only.
NRA RCO Qualification – Specific to MoD ranges only.

1.    For existing qualified RCO’s who do not hold the NRA RSO qualification you will now be required to hold the RSO qualification as well, you can do this by simply completing the NRA RSO online test.

  • If you do not operate on MoD ranges, you can renew as a RSO only by completing the online renewal test found in the RSO renewal section.

  • If your club is affiliated to the NRA and you do operate on MoD ranges and require a valid RCO qualification, the new process involves completing two online tests. Begin by taking the RSO online test. Upon successful completion, you will receive a link to the RCO online test. Please ensure payment for the RSO online test is made before proceeding to the RCO online test.

2.    For individuals who do not fit into section 1.

  • RSO renewal, please follow the process under the RSO Renewal section.

  • RCO renewal, please follow the process under the RCO Renewal section.
