Welcome to the Probationary Training Programme for novice shooters!

ABOUT THE COURSE

This programme is comprised of 4 training modules, 2 Shooting Clubs and a Final Briefing Session, designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to shoot independently, with a club and to enter competitions.

Module 2 will introduce you to:

  •          Grouping and scoring
  •          Angles, elevation and sight adjustment
  •          How to read different sight systems
  •          How to zero a rifle

You will leave the day:

  •          Feeling comfortable with adjusting sights to zero a rifle
  •          Familiar with how to shoot from a prone position with a variety of firearms

This is a full day course, from 0830 - 1630, with a mixture of classroom and on-range practical exercises.

Joining instructions with info on timings and location will be sent out around 2 weeks before the course date.

PREPARATION

There is no essential pre-reading before Module 2, however you might like to read through the Module 2 section of the Probationary Training Manual in preparation. You will have been issued a hard copy of the manual on Module 1 but the PDF version can be found by clicking here.

Please ensure to bring your Probationary Training Manual to the session.

BEFORE APPLYING, PLEASE NOTE:

If you are unable to shoot from a prone position, then a bench will be provided. You must let us know in advance if this is required.

This course involves spending time outdoors on the ranges, even if it's raining, and not all ranges are under cover. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and temperature. Sturdy, full coverage footwear is recommended.
