Welcome to the Probationary Training Programme for novice shooters!

 

ABOUT THE COURSE

This programme is comprised of 6 training modules designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to shoot independently, with a club and to enter competitions.

Module 1 will introduce you to:

  •          The NRA’s four Safety Rules
  •          The basics of handling firearms
  •          Principles of marksmanship

 

You will leave the day:

  •          Feeling comfortable with the basics of firearms handling
  •          Fully aware of the basic principles of safety and muzzle awareness
  •          Familiar with how to shoot from standing and bench positions with a variety of firearms

 

This is a full day course, from 0830 - 1630, with a mixture of classroom and on-range practical exercises.

Joining instructions with info on timings and location will be sent out around 2 weeks before the course date. 

 

PREPARATION

After registering on this module, you will be sent information about pre-module preparation.  In the meantime, have a read through the Probationary Training Manual before coming along to the course.  A hard copy of the manual will be issued in the classroom but the PDF version can be found by clicking here

 

BEFORE APPLYING, PLEASE NOTE:

The Probationary Training programme is only open to those who have received a formal communication from the Membership Department that your probationary membership application has been approved.

This course involves spending time outdoors on the ranges.  Please make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and temperature.  Sturdy footwear is also recommended.

COURSE CANCELLATION POLICY:

If you need to cancel/ rebook:

Cancellation/re-booking less than 5 working days before the course will incur a £20 cancellation charge.

If the NRA needs to cancel a course:

All courses hold the possibility of being cancelled if they do not reach the minimum number of attendees. If this happens, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible. You will be given the option to transfer over to a new date, or to receive a full refund for the course. 

Please note, any non-refundable accommodation booked by you is done so at your own risk. The cost of this will not be reimbursed by the NRA should a course need to be cancelled.
