Welcome to the Fullbore Target Rifle Skills Programme for novice shooters!
This programme is comprised of 6 training units designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to shoot independently, enter competitions and take part in team matches. You may opt to follow this as a full programme or if you meet prerequisites, you can book onto the individual units that you need.
Unit 1 will introduce you to Target Rifle as a sport and cover foundation marksmanship principles, Units 2 - 4 will cover the core information and skills you need to shoot independently while Units 5 and 6 will help you to prepare for competition and team match shooting.
The Spring-Summer 2020 dates are 1st March (Unit 1), 22nd March (Unit 2), 5th April (Unit 3), 25th April (Unit 4), 8th May (Unit 5) and 27th June (Unit 6). There is a second Unit 1 day scheduled on the 26th April for people interested in learning how to shoot Fullbore Target Rifle this Autumn.
UNIT 2, AIM: To help you develop the following core principles knowledge and skills you need to shoot Fullbore Target Rifle independently:
- How to read and use adjustable front and rear sights
- Key elevation rises for short range
- Why and how to keep records during a shoot
- Signing in and out for targets at the Range Office
- Position and grouping practice at Short Range
This is a full day course (08.00-16.30) costing £105 to include all classroom and on range sesssions, rifle hire,ammunition, tea, coffee, lunch and expert coaching. Under 25s recieve a 40% discount on entry fee
RANGE TIME
- 2 Hour morning session at 300x
- 3 Hour afternoon session at 600x
REQUIREMENT: The course is open to any NRA Members who have a Shooter Certification Card (SCC), including those who do not currently hold an FAC or possess a Target Rifle. Non-NRA members can attend providing they are a full member of a Home Office approved club affiliated to the NRA and possess an SCC. An additional non-membership fee will also be applicable. Please contact us if you are intrested in this programme but do not possess a current SCC.
OTHER PREREQUISITES: you have attended Unit 1 of this programme or you have the equivalent knowledge.
DRESS AND EQUIPMENT: All firearms, ammunition and shooting equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own ear protection, shooting glove and hat. Please bring a notebook, pen and glasses, if you need them. Attendees should wear their usual shooting clothing, with under layers according to the weather. Please bring waterproof trousers, jackets and sturdy footwear suitable for soggy ranges - avoid highly padded or very baggy jackets if you can.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Tea and coffee will be available during the classroom session of the course at no extra charge. Lunch will be provided.
