Welcome to the Probationary Training Programme for novice shooters!

ABOUT THE COURSE

This programme is comprised of 4 training modules, 2 Shooting Club sessions and a Final Briefing Session, designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to shoot independently, with a club and to enter competitions.

The Final Briefing Session is a half-day event/ graduation to full NRA membership.

You must attend your Modules 1 - 4 and the NRA Shooting Club on 2 separate calendar dates before you can attend the FBS.

Three main topics will be covered:

  •          Final briefing on NRA rules for individual members (focusing on duties of action as your own Range Officer/ solo shooting)
  •          Final supervised shooting test (in the form of a fun shooting competition)
  •          Where to next briefing

After attending the FBS, students will be granted full NRA membership and will be posted their 4-year full-member NRA SCC.

.

This is a half day course, from 0830 - 1230, with a mixture of classroom and on-range practical exercises.

Joining instructions with info on timings and location will be sent out around 2 weeks before the course date.

PREPARATION

There is no essential pre-reading before this session, however you might like to re-read through the Modules 1 - 4 sections of the Probationary Training Manual to refresh your knowledge. You will have been issued a hard copy of the manual on Module 1 but the PDF version can be found by clicking here.

Please ensure to bring your Probationary Training Manual to the session in order to be signed off.

BEFORE APPLYING, PLEASE NOTE:

You must complete your Module 4 and receive your Probationary SCC before you can book onto a Final Briefing Session. Any bookings made before you have attended and passed Module 4 will be cancelled.

You cannot attend a Final Briefing Session until you have completed Modules 1 - 4 AND have attended the NRA Shooting Club on 2 separate calendar dates.

If you are unable to shoot from a prone position, a bench will be provided. You must let us know in advance if this is required.

This course involves spending time outdoors on the ranges, even if it's raining, and not all ranges are under cover. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and temperature. Sturdy, full coverage footwear is recommended.
