Picture of Black Powder Certification

The Black Powder Certification Course provides training in the safe and competent use of Black Powder/Muzzle Loading Firearms (ie Percussion Pistols, Black Powder Revolvers, Musket and Muzzle Loading Rifles).

The course is open to all Full-NRA members and NRA-Affiliated Club members, including those who do not currently hold an FAC or possess the appropriate firearm.

The course will involve both classroom and practical range work with expert coaching from national and international level shooters. Students will be assessed over the course of the day to add the Muzzle Loading Pistol & Rifle discipline to their NRA SCC, allowing them to hire Black Powder kits from the NRA Armoury using black powder substitutes.

This is a full day course, from 08.30-16.30, with a mixture of classroom and on-range practical exercises.

Joining instructions with info on timings and location will be sent out around 2 weeks before the course date.

There is no advance preparation required for this course.

If you are not a full NRA member, you will not be issued a Shooter Certification Card but instead will receive a certificate of completion for the course.

If you need to cancel/ rebook:

Cancellation/re-booking less than 5 working days before the course will incur a £20 cancellation charge.

If the NRA needs to cancel a course:

All courses hold the possibility of being cancelled if they do not reach the minimum number of attendees. If this happens, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible. You will be given the option to transfer over to a new date, or to receive a full refund for the course.

Please note, any non-refundable accommodation booked by you is done so at your own risk. The cost of this will not be reimbursed by the NRA should a course need to be cancelled.
