Astor County Championships 2024

This Event is for the submission of results for the first round of the 2024 Astor County Championship

Round 1: Astor County Championship Tankard

  • The County Tankard match may be shot anytime between 1st August 2023 and 30th June 2024
  • A Club may enter any number of teams. Each team must consist of a maximum of seven members: six Firers and a Captain/Coach
    • All seven must be bona fide members of the Club before 1 May 2024
    • No more than two firers may be Class X and no fewer than two must be Class O or T, at the time of the match
    • Coaches may be of any class
    • No shooter or coach can have shot or coached for any other club in an Astor County competition since 1st August 2023
  • Affiliation: Open to any Affiliated Rifle Club in any UK County
  • Course of fire: As locally convenient, but preferably as for the Astor Final, i.e. two sighters and seven shots to count at each of 300, 500 and 600 yards.
  • Ammunition: Any commercially available ammunition may be used
  • Each competition will be organised by the County Rifle Association, who may appoint an “Astor Secretary” for this purpose
  • NRA Rules and Regulations will apply, and any dispute will be settled by the NRA who reserve the right to withdraw the Astor Tankard from any County
  • The Organiser must report the results, including the names of the competing and nominated clubs, the scores and the date of NRA affiliation in the current year to NRA Shooting Division no later than Sunday 30th June 2024. The Astor Claim form can be downloaded online, or you can contact a member of Shooting Division for a copy
  • Should no qualifying shoot take place, a County may nominate a Club to represent them in the final. This nomination must be submitted to NRA Shooting Division no later than Sunday 30th June 2024

Awards:

In each County competition:

First Placed Team:        Up to seven Silver Astor Tankard medals

Second Placed Team:    Up to seven Bronze Astor Tankard medals (if entries exceed four)

Third Placed Team:       Up to seven Bronze Astor Tankard medals (if entries exceed ten)
